Amy Jeopardy Trans Before and After

Amy Schneider is taking advantage of a break in her screen time on the show to tell fans more about her life.

In November, the California-based engineering manager became the first transgender woman to qualify for the Tournament of Champions after defeating five-time champ Andrew He on Jeopardy!

Amy’s Passion

Schneider stated that after college, she continued to pursue her long-held passion for theater performance, and writing.

“While performing Taming of the Shrew, I met my wife.

I could joke about omens because we ended up divorcing, but that would be unfair to a woman I loved for many years and who I still consider a friend.”

“She was a theater major who wanted to do standup comedy, so we needed to move to a big city for her to pursue that,” she explained to her ex-wife.

“We went to see some friends at Berkeley and fell in love with the Bay Area.

So we relocated to Oakland in 2009, and I, for one, will never leave!”

Schneider went on to name a pivotal year in her life.

“In 2016, my father died, Kevin Durant joined the [Golden State] Warriors, my wife, and I divorced, I discovered I was transgender, and [Donald] Trump was elected. It had been a long year!”

Her Tweet

“Now, when I say I realized I was trans in 2016, I’m simplifying a process that in some ways had been going on my whole life.

And certainly since 2011 or so, but 2016 was when I finally realized that I was living a lie, and began to let my true self show,” she clarified in a follow-up tweet.

In a November interview with Newsweek, Schneider revealed that she considers June 30, 2017, to be the date she began openly living as her true self.

In another thread on Twitter, the University of Dayton grad described how she met her current girlfriend, Genevieve.

Saying she knew the moment she saw her that “she was going to be in my life for a long time”

Amy’s New Love

“In the summer of 2020, my friend was hanging out at my apartment, talking on the phone with her boyfriend, and somehow or another she wound up inviting her boyfriend’s sister over to my place, to give her a ride somewhere,” she recalled.

“It turned out that sister’s name was Genevieve.”

Now, I’d never believed in ‘love at first sight,’ and maybe I’m just projecting my feelings back onto that encounter. But I swear when she walked in the door, I knew she was going to be in my life for a long time.”

We didn’t start dating until February 2021 for a variety of reasons, but our time as friends was extremely valuable, and we both believe we have a bright future together.

Finally, in March, we completed our family by adopting a cat named Meep.”
