David Culley is an American head coach who has held the job for 45 years. He has coaching expertise at both the collegiate and professional (NFL) levels.

Biography of David Cully 

On September 17, 1955, the head coach was born and raised in Sparta, Tennessee as David Wayne Culley. He is the son of Ulysses Grant Culley Sr. and Jessie Mae Culley, both of whom died. 

His parents had raised him and his six siblings. He is of American nationality and of African-American ancestry.


He attended White County High School and then Vanderbilt University for his studies. During his high school years, he was a quarterback in American football and a point guard in basketball. And throughout his college career, he was the first African-American quarterback in school history.

The coach has an average-looking body structure and has not given chest or waist measurements. 

Furthermore, he measures 5 feet 9 inches (1.75 meters) tall and weighs roughly 81 kilograms. His eyes are hazel, and his hair is silver-brown.


He began his career as a running backs coach at Austin Peay State University in 1978.  He then worked as a running back coach at numerous universities, including the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and Texas A&M, before beginning his professional career with NFL teams

He was hired as wide receivers coach by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1994, under head coach Sam Wyche.

In the same position, he joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1996 and the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999, both under head coach Bill Cowher. In 2013, he worked as an associate head coach/wide receivers coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. 

He later worked for the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and, in 2021, the Houston Texans. However, after one season, the Texans removed him as head coach, and he became the franchise’s fourth head coach.

Net Worth of David Culley 

According to sources, NFL teams pay their coaches an annual salary ranging from $8 million to $10 million per season. 

Similarly, he recently accepted a $22 million contract with the NFL franchise Houston Texans as their head coach. However, after one season, the franchise sacked him for $5 million, with the remaining $17 million paid over the next three years.

As a result, his net worth is estimated to be more than $1 million results his coaching role.
