Eric Johnson is a retired tight end who played in the National Football League for seven seasons after graduating from Yale.

He did, however, miss the entire year of 2003 and all of 2005 due to injuries. However, he led the 49ers in receiving in 2004 with 82 receptions for 825 yards and two scores.

During the 2006 season, Johnson shared playing time with the team’s first-round choice, tight end Vernon Davis.

He has 21 receptions for 244 yards and the game-winning touchdown reception in Yale’s behind-the-scenes victory over Harvard in the 1999 Harvard-Yale game.

Eric is well-known for his work on NFL on CBS (1956), NFL Monday Night Football (1970), and NFL on FOX (1980). (1994).

In 2007, Johnson signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints. On March 14, 2008, the team re-signed him. The Saints released him on July 31, 2008.

In Massachusetts, he attended Needham High School and Belmont Hill School. Eric went on to play wide receiver at Yale University.
