Many people are curious about the truth behind Lifetime movies like Menendez: Blood Brothers and HBO’s Wizard of Lies, as well as where the real-life characters are today.

One forgotten story is that of former Hells Angels leader George Christie Jr., who went from outlaw to law-abiding citizen. Visit our George Christie wiki to learn more about him.

George Christie, Hells Angel

George Christie Jr. was born in 1947 as an only child to Greek immigrant parents in Ventura, California.

Christie had a fascination with motorcycles and the outlaw culture since he was a child. Against his father’s wishes, he purchased his first bike, a 1957 Panhead, in 1966.

He was soon seen hanging out with gangs like The Question Marks and Satan Slaves, before eventually joining the notorious Hells Angels.

If you ask any parent what they would want for their only child (or any child), they will tell you that joining the most infamous motorcycle gang in American history is not an option.

But it was a dream come true for Christie, who not only joined the Hells Angels but also became their leader.

Christie left the notorious biker gang with his son after decades of membership.

He was the Hells Angels’ main spokesperson for seven US presidents, from Gerald Ford to Barack Obama, during his time with them.

He was also charged and sentenced to prison. George Christie’s net worth is unknown at this time, but his bail was set at $1.0 million at one point.

Why He Left the Hells Angels

Christie opened up to VICE magazine about why he left the gang after dedicating nearly his entire life to them.

“I felt we became the people we were rebelling against,” Christie told VICE.

“At one point, we interacted with every club up and down the coast, and by 2011, we were fighting every major outlaw-bike club in the United States—plus law enforcement.”

That’s when some people lost sight of the original purpose of the outlaw lifestyle. It appeared more military as if one army was fighting another.”

He Wrote a Book about Being an Angel

Christie now consults with defense attorneys and first-time offenders to help them understand the justice system and its processes. He also contributes his knowledge as a speaker at various events. Christie’s book Exile on Front Street: My Life as a Hells Angel and Beyond is available now.

“After I left the club in 2011, there was a lot of misinformation floating around about me.” Christie told VICE magazine, “I had [formally] left the club.”

“I went to the meeting, followed protocol, faced everyone, and said I think we have different visions and I’m going to call it a day, and I took my patch off, folded it up, and placed it on the table, and everyone seemed to understand my position.”

Sonny Barger, I believe, was instrumental in changing my status a few weeks later.

I received a phone call informing me that I was no longer “out in good standing” but rather “out bad” with no contact.

George Christie’s Wife

Christie, 70, married Cheryl (also 70), his high school sweetheart, and they live in Ojai, California.

They had four children until George Christie III (Georgie) died in 2015 at the age of 39.

The cause of death for Georgie Christie is unknown, but he was discovered dead in his sleep. Georgie Christie, like all of George Christie’s children, was a Hells Angels member.
