Karine Jean-Pierre is a political campaign organizer, activist, political analyst, and novelist from the French Caribbean.

She has been the White House’s Principal Deputy Press Secretary since 2021. Karine is the Biden-Harris administration’s Principal Deputy Press Secretary.

Suzanne Malveaux, Karine Jean-wife, Pierre’s is 55 years old and was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan.

The Announcement

President Joe Biden announced Thursday that Karine Jean-Pierre will replace Jen Psaki as White House press secretary when she leaves next week, making her the first Black and out LGBTQ person to hold the position.

However, Karine is currently the White House’s main deputy press secretary.

She will formally begin after Psaki’s last day on May 13. CNN reported in April that Psaki wanted to quit CNN for a job at MSNBC.

Karine’s New Role

Karine became only the second Black woman in history to preside over a daily press conference.

She worked as a campaign strategist for Biden and as the chief of staff for now-Vice President Kamala Harris before joining the White House’s senior communications team after he was elected.

Karine is at ease in her new role.

She is frequently present in the room when Psaki briefs reporters, has filled in at the podium for her and has joked with reporters accompanying Biden on Air Force One

Karine recently replaced Psaki during Biden’s four-day tour to Europe during the Russian invasion, after Psaki tested positive for Covid-19 the day before Biden was to leave.

Psaki’s departure is unsurprising, given that she had planned to leave after a year in the position. Several candidates, including Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby, were considered for her replacement.

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he has become a conspicuous face of the administration at briefings and on cable television.

Psaki thanked Biden and Jill Biden on Twitter, calling Jean-Pierre “a terrific woman.”
