Lea Michele Recounts Her ‘Very Scary’ Pregnancy Seven Months After Giving Birth
Lea Michele discusses becoming a mother.
On Thursday, the Glee star appeared on Katherine Schwarzenegger’s “Before, During, and After” Instagram Live series (March 25).
In August 2020, Lea and her husband Zandy Reich welcomed their first child, Ever Leo.
“I had a very, very intense, very scary pregnancy,” Lea revealed to Katherine.
“I’ve never shared my experience with anyone, which I think is something I see myself doing in a lot of ways now that I’m a mom, not sharing for fear of not sounding perfect or just being afraid… “I kept a lot of my experience to myself,” she continued.
Her pregnancy was complicated by her polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) diagnosis, which nearly caused her to give up trying for a baby.
“I really felt like maybe this isn’t meant to be for me right now,” Lea told Katherine, adding that “not being able to become a mom has always been my biggest fear in my entire life.”
It’s what I’ve wished for the most. And it just continued to build emotionally.”
Lea “unexpectedly” found out she was pregnant in December 2019 after she and her husband decided to pause trying for a baby. She had the “most blissful 72 hours of my life.”
Lea, on the other hand, experienced severe bleeding throughout her pregnancy and revealed, “I finally announced I was pregnant, and I was still unsure if the pregnancy would last.”
“Oh, my God, I’m going to cry,” she exclaimed. “I woke up and thought, ‘I just want to be a mom right now.'” ‘I need this time.’ And it was dreadful. It was the lowest I’d ever been in my life.”
Lea also recalled how she felt the first time she got to hold Ever.
“My little baby is a fighter,” she exclaimed. “I remember the first thing I said to him when I held him was, ‘You did so well.'”
