What you should know about Stefanik’s husband:

1. Matthew Manda First Met Elise Stefanik When Mutual Friends Brought Him to a Party She Hosted in 2012

Manda and Stefanik met in early 2012 while both living in Washington, D.C. She was in charge of debate preparation for Representative Paul Ryan, who was running for Vice President as Mitt Romney’s running mate.

Manda had recently relocated to Capitol Hill to work as the communications director for Republican Kansas Rep. Kevin Yoder.

Stefanik hosted a party in January 2012, according to their wedding announcement in the New York Times.

Mutual friends invited Manda to the event, and sparks flew between them. They began dating soon after.

2. Manda proposed while on vacation in Lake Placid, New York, and the ring was tied with dental floss.

Manda proposed to Stefanik during a trip to Lake Placid in August 2016, according to Stefanik.

She claimed they were drinking on the Mirror Lake Inn’s second-floor porch overlooking the lake when Manda proposed on one knee.

Stefanik told the newspaper that Lake Placid had special meaning for them.

When they first started dating, she took him to northern New York, and the first place she took him was Lake Placid.

Manda had taken extra precautions in preparation for the proposal, she added, to ensure he did not misplace the ring.

Inside the box, the ring was tied with dental floss. “Matt’s father is a dentist, and he didn’t want the ring to slip and fall, causing him to lose it!” Stefanik explained to the Chronicle.

Manda also made certain that they had a visual record of the event. He asked someone in the restaurant to take photos of him getting down on one knee.

He captioned the photo, “I don’t remember every word I said – but I know she said ‘yes,’ and that’s all that matters to me.” “I’m the luckiest guy in the world.”

3. Manda & Stefanik Tied the Knot In Saratoga Springs In August 2017

Stefanik and Manda married a year after they first became engaged.
The ceremony took place on August 19, 2017, at the Hall of Springs reflecting pool in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Jan Plumadore, a retired New York State Supreme Court Justice, officiated.
Stefanik told Brides.com that due to her hectic schedule traveling between Capitol Hill and New York, she relied heavily on her mother and a wedding planner to pull everything together.
The wedding theme was described as a cross between A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Ascot scene from My Fair Lady by the outlet.

Manda posted an Instagram photo of himself dipping Stefanik. “Gonna dance the years away with you!” he wrote in the caption.

The couple has also welcomed a dog into their home. On her and Manda’s second wedding anniversary, Stefanik posted photos of their dog, Nala, on Instagram.

4. Manda Is the Marketing & Communications Director For a Media Company

Mathew Manda and Stefanik make their home in Schuylerville, New York. The village is about 40 miles north of Albany in Saratoga County.

In December 2018, Stefanik’s deputy chief of staff announced that the congresswoman and her husband had purchased a home.

Mathew Manda, like his wife, divides his time between upstate New York and Washington, D.C.

Manda worked as the marketing and communications director for Media Group of America in Arlington, Virginia, according to their wedding announcement.

Manda’s LinkedIn profile states simply that he has worked in strategic communications since 2008.

Manda first came to Washington, D.C. to work for Congressman Kevin Yoder. Manda previously worked as Senator Jerry Moran’s political director during the 2010 election.

After they got engaged, Stefanik told the Chronicle that Manda “loves BBQ, music, KU basketball, the Adirondacks, and craft beer.”
