Toni-Ann Filiti Dead: Sylvester Stallone’s Half-Sister Dies At 48
Sylvester Stallone’s personal losses continue to mount. Toni-Ann Filiti, Stallone’s half-sister, died Sunday night at the age of 48 after a long battle with lung cancer, according to RadarOnline.com. As death approached, Filiti left UCLA Medical Center to live with their mother, Jackie Stallone.
A source told the website, “It was somewhat expected.”
Sage Stallone, Sylvester Stallone’s son, died on July 13 at the age of 36 from unspecified causes. The results of an autopsy will be released soon.
Stallone, 66, told outlets that his son’s death was “very tough,” but that promoting his new film “The Expendables 2” had kept him busy. He spent early August in France with his wife Jennifer Flavin and their three daughters but was spotted walking in Beverly Hills with daughters Scarlet Rose and Sistine Rose yesterday, according to the Daily Mail.
A ticking time bomb
Filiti was a ticking time bomb, with stage four lung cancer and liver cancer that had already spread to her brain. After losing her grandson, Sage, the situation became too much for the Stallone matriarch.
“I am doing terrible after having my grandson go, then my daughter [critical] at 48 years old. It isn’t easy. I don’t know what to do. She has been in UCLA for two weeks. She’s on IV to stay alive. She is on all kinds of IV to eat,” Jackie said.
Sylvester was in France with his bereaved family, which included his wife, Jennifer Flavin, and three daughters. They tried to cope with Sage’s death in their Los Angeles home together. Nonetheless, Sylvester stepped in to assist Filiti in his situation.
“My uncle has given me a lot of support. I can only thank him,” Filiti’s son, Edmund said. “We are going to explore alternative treatments as soon as mom gets home [from the hospital.]”
Hoping for a miracle
Edmund revealed that herbal and organic treatments like “marijuana” and “kava” were their best option for helping “shrink the tumors.” Nothing was certain, but all they could do was toss out ideas and try them out.
According to Jackie, the doctors have given up on Filiti’s case. She was occasionally awake and responsive, but the majority of the time she was not. Their family was aware that her condition had deteriorated, and all they could do was pray for a miracle.
“I always think some miracle will happen, and she will wake up, and this is all a bad dream. I want her with is until the last hour. She looks beautiful, lying there. But her condition is critical,” Jackie said.
Filiti soon joined her nephew, Sage, and left her loved ones behind on Earth. Another life was lost, but the memory will live on, especially in Sylvester’s heart. Sage, his first child with Sasha Czack, appeared in a few films alongside his father.
“Sage was our first child and the center of our universe, and I humbly request that my son’s memory and soul be left in peace,” Sylvester said.
